Openings

If you are interested in joining our laboratory, please read the information below carefully. We receive a large number of unsolicited emails enquiring about openings, and regret that we are unable to respond to such requests.

Postdoctoral positions

We do not have any openings at present. Any future vacancies will be advertised here and on cam.ac.uk/jobs. 

PhD studentships

We regularly welcome PhD students through the PhD in Engineering (Malliaras) and PhD in Clinical Neurosciences (Barone) programmes, as well as through Centres for Doctoral Training such as the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensor Technologies and Applications in an Uncertain World and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Photonic and Electronic Systems. Prospective applicants should familiarise themselves with these programmes and their entry requirements.

For October 2027 entry, we will be seeking students in the following areas

• spinal cord injury bypass systems (see here)
• biohybrid implants for neurodegenerative diseases (see here).

Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply through the PhD programmes listed above, and include a proposal outlining their ideas in one of these topics. Please do not contact us prior to applying; we would like to assess your ideas without prior discussion. We will review incoming applications and contact candidates whose proposals demonstrate a strong understanding of the field and present credible avenues for progress.

Interns/Visitors

We are currently unable to host interns or visitors from outside Cambridge, as the laboratory is at full capacity.
